Finding of No Significant Impact

USDA Rural Development Utilities Program (RDUP) has received an application for financial assistance from the Township of Whiteford, Monroe County, Michigan.  As required by the National Environmental Policy Act, the RDUP has assessed the potential environmental effects of the proposed project and has determined that the proposed project will not have a significant effect on the human environment.  An Environmental Impact Statement will not be prepared.  The basis of this determination is documented in the environmental assessment, and that during the 15-day public comments period, no concerns were raised.

The proposed project includes the construction of approximately 4.2 miles of water line extensions along Sylvania-Petersburg Road, West Sterns Road, Whiteford Center Road, and Schnipke Drive. Water will be supplied by the existing Whiteford Water Filtration Facility. A 200,000 gallon storage tank and associated pump station will be constructed, as well, on existing Township property.
